Big developments at one of Southern Africa’s busiest trade routes! Botswana President Duma Boko has officially announced that the Kazungula One Stop Border Post will now operate 24 hours a day.
Speaking at the launch of the Kazungula Bridge Authority (KBA) this afternoon, President Boko confirmed that the facility is being converted into a non-stop border post to improve efficiency and boost regional trade.
“We are moving with the times,” President Boko stated. He revealed that the Botswana Stock Exchange has been tasked with deploying the necessary resources to ensure the seamless operation of the 24-hour system.
This is a major upgrade from the old days of the Kazungula pontoon, which operated strictly from 6 AM to 6 PM. Even after the construction of the bridge, hours were only extended to 10 PM. Now, with round-the-clock operations, we can expect faster movement of goods and people, decongestion, and a major economic boost for the region.
